*Judges 7:20*
And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake their pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: *and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.*
Upon reading through the book of Judges, the Bible shows us that there 13 different judges in the book! Each one played a significant part in delivering Israel from the oppression an enemy. Possibly best remembered is the judge named Gideon. When God first called him, he seemed not so bold as he was hiding from the Midianites, but God turned him into a “mighty man of valor”. The Lord purposefully dwindled down Gideon’s army to just 300 men and then gave them a miraculous victory. They entered the camp with trumpet and pitcher and lamp and cried out “The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon”!
The same God is with His children today. Let us model the humility of Gideon and let God fight our battles for us. We have a spiritual sword even more powerful – the Word of God. Let’s pick up and wield our sword to strengthen our lives and glorify God.
